Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha, on Thursday, dismissed Y S Jaganmohan Reddy's charges that the government and the Congress were using the Central Bureau Of Investigation as a political tool to take "revenge" on him.
Talking to media persons at Nizamabad on his way to IIT at Basara, Rajanarasimha said that there was no need for the Congress to take revenge against Jagan, and that the CBI has been probing the case on the directions of High Court.
"The Congress has never stooped to such levels. The law will take its own course in the disproportionate assets case," he said.
The Deputy CM said that the government has nothing to do with the seizure of bank accounts of Jagathi Publications owned by Jaganmohan Reddy.
Reminding that Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababau Naidu had once described the CBI as the "Congress Bureau Of Investigation," he said that now leaders of all political parties are praising the probing agency for its "commendable and satisfactory role" in the investigations.
Stating that the main contest in the upcoming by-polls is between the Congress and the Telugu Desam Party, Rajanarasimha expressed confidence that the Congress would emerge victorious in eight out of the 18 Assembly constituencies going for by-elections. (INN)
