Congress MLAs from Telangana will move a privilege motion against former minister
Jupally Krishna Rao, for alleging that they were bribed with SUVs by the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for not leaving the party.
Talking to reporters at the Congress Legislature Party Office in Hyderabad on Tuesday, Congress MLA K Laxma Reddy described Jupally's allegations as "baseless".
He said that Jupally, who was with the Congress till a day earlier, is now levelling baseless allegations against his former colleagues.
Asking Jupally to submit evidence to prove his allegations, Laxma Reddy asked, "How much money did he take from Chandrasekhar Rao to join the TRS?"
Reminding mediapersons that Jupally had earlier described KCR as Telangana's biggest enemy, he stated that Jupally is now using the TRS as a platform to target the Congress.
Stating that the Congress MLAs would move a privilege motion against Jupally before the Speaker Nadendla Manohar, he said that legal notices would also be served to newspapers who had published the report without any evidence.
Regarding Telangana, the Congress MLA said that statehood for the region is not possible without the support of the United Progressive Alliance, particularly the Congress party.
He said that the TRS could raise a hue and cry about the Telangana, but that it is only the Congress which can form a separate state.
Congress leaders would stage a hunger strike in Delhi to convince the Congress High Command on the Telangana state, he added.
Laxma Reddy also targeted the Telangana Congress Steering Committee, and said that Congress MPs must stop instructing MLAs on what they ought to do for the Telangana cause.
Not naming any leader, he said that the MLAs do not need any advise on how the Telangana agitation should continue.
The Congress MLA said that a delegation of party legislators would soon meet the Chief Minister, asking him to order a probe into the assets of TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao.
Laxma Reddy said that KCR has accumulated wealth through illegal means, and that it multiplied after the launch of the Telangana agitation in the recent past. (INN)
