In a shocking incident, some unidentified miscreants shot six rounds at Telangana Congress leader Rachakonda Yadagiri Goud in the Old Bowenpally area in Secunderabad on Saturday.
One bullet pierced his torso.
According to information received, some assailants on a bike suddenly opened fire on Goud while he was entering his house in Old Bowenpally, and fled leaving the gun behind.
Goud fell to the ground bleeding, and was rushed to a nearby hospital. He survived the attack. After regaining consciousness in the hospital, he stormed to a police station to file a complaint.
Confirming the firing, Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy said that the police were suspecting the possibility of a land dispute being the reason for the attack. They are also probing other angles, including personal grudges.
The police are also reportedly trying to connect the dots between this incident and the recent shootout at Alwal in the city, as they suspect that a person named Dakkali Babu of Alwal may be behind the attack on Goud.
