The main opposition party in Telangana, the Congress, kicked off its election campaign today from Alampur.
The leaders had a darshan of the Gadwal Jogulamba ammavaru and organized a roadshow.
On the occasion, TPCC Campaign Committee chairman Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that the party had taken the blessings of the Jogulamba ammavaru for the development of Telangana. He said that he had prayed ammavaru to ensure that the water, funds and jobs in the state reached the people fully.
Vikramarka claimed that fear had started in KCR upon seeing the public response to the Congress. He also promised that the Congress would abolish the CPS system if it came to power in the coming elections.
AICC official spokesperson S Jaipal Reddy slammed the allegations made by caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao at the TRS' Nizamabad public meeting on Wednesday, saying that KCR had no standing to criticize him. Terming KCR as a Telangana betrayer, Reddy alleged that the former had failed to fulfill any of his assurances made during the last elections. He assailed KCR for inducting the TDP leaders who had opposed statehood for Telangana into his cabinet, and alleged that KCR had deceived all sections of the people.
KCR would join hands with just about anyone after the elections, he predicted.
Another senior leader T Jeevan Reddy too alleged that KCR had thrown all his 2014 promises in the dustbin.
The party's star campaigner Vijayashanti alleged that KCR would loot the state for another five years if given a chance. She pointed out that KCR hadn't revealed the reasons he dissolved the Assembly and sought early elections, and that that revealed that he was sure that he would lose if the Assembly had lasted its full term.
