With just 12 days left for the announcement of the elections' results, the Telangana Congress leaders appear to have intensified lobbying for the post of Chief Minister.
Interestingly, the aspirants for the top post themselves are claiming that lobbying would not work.
"The Congress High Command will decide the Chief Ministerial candidate only after taking into account the opinion of the MLAs," said former minister K Jana Reddy while addressing a meeting in Hyderabad.
He expressed confidence that the Congress party would emerge as the single largest party in Telangana and form the government on its own.
However, Jana Reddy also indicated that the Congress might have to seek some outside support if it fell short of required numbers.
He completely dismissed the claim of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi of winning the elections. He said that although the TRS enjoyed some admiration from the people of the region, it would never emerge as the single largest party.
Meanwhile, former minister Damodar Reddy proposed Jana Reddy for the post of the Chief Minister. He said that Jana Reddy was qualified, and experienced enough to take up the job. (INN)
