The Congress on Thursday lodged a police complaint against Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and other BRS leaders for "not fulfilling the promises made by the BRS in the last nine years".
The complaint, seeking registration of a cheating case, was lodged in the Banjara Hills Police Station by Congress MLA Danasari Seethakka and Khairatabad (Hyderabad Central) DCC President Dr C Rohin Reddy.
The Congress leaders enclosed copies of TRS manifestos released in 2014 and 2018 along with pictures of the release of the manifestos by the Chief Minister.
Speaking to the media later, Seethakka strongly condemned KCR and the BRS for not fulfilling any of the promises they had made to the people during the campaigning for the last two Assembly elections.
She alleged that KCR had first betrayed the people by not honouring his electoral promises, and was now cheating them with false propaganda in the name of the decennial celebrations of Telangana's formation.
"Through the 21-day-long celebrations using public money, KCR is creating an illusion that his government has fulfilled all the promises he had made to the people," she said.
Seethakka also said that the BRS government was targeting the Congress leaders by placing them under illegal house arrest and implicating them in false cases for raising their voices.
She said that all the top leaders of the Congress across Telangana had been placed under house arrest to foil the "Dasabdi Daga" protest by the party, and called the arrests undemocratic and dictatorial.
She said that it should be KCR and the other BRS leaders who should be arrested for cheating the people, and not the opposition Congress leaders.
Khairatabad DCC President Dr Rohin Reddy said that a formal complaint had been lodged with the police seeking a cheating case against KCR and other BRS leaders.
"If the police fail to register an FIR, we will go to court to seek justice. The election manifesto should be treated like a holy book like the Bhagavad Gita, Quran or Bible. But KCR used his manifesto as a medium to cheat the common people by making lucrative promises and not fulfilling them later," he said.
He added that as per the call given by TPCC president A Revanth Reddy, Congress workers across the State had planned to observe "Dasabdi Daga" and burn 10-head effigies of KCR in protest against his failures, but that that the BRS government had misused the police to suppress the protest.
