Former minister Dr. P Shankar Rao, on Monday, expressed serious concern over the
communal clashes that took place in Madannapet and Saidabad police station limits in the Old City.
Talking to media persons at the Congress Legislature Party office, Shankar Rao appealed to all parties to make efforts to bring back normalcy, and to work for communal harmony with religious and community leaders.
He said that the government must order a probe into the incident and take serious action against the perpetrators.
AICC secretary and MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar also demanded that the government initiate stern action against those responsible for the violence and take steps to ensure that such incidents do not recur.
Taking a dig at YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, he said that some persons have been trying to get political mileage from such incidents by visiting those areas. (INN)
