TPCC president Revanth Reddy today attacked the BRS government claiming that it was protecting IRB Infrastructure Developers, which won the 30-year toll contract of the Outer Ring Road, despite the company reneging on its payment commitments even before it began operations.
"10% of the tender amount should be paid in advance within 30 days of the letter of agreement issued to IRB. According to that, Rs 738 crore out of the Rs 7,388 crore need to be paid by IRB within 30 days. But IRB is asking for more time to pay the 10%. And minister K T Rama Rao is putting pressure on the officials to favour the organisation that is violating the agreement, instead of taking action against it," Reddy said.
Speaking to the media at the CLP office, Reddy demanded that the tenders should be cancelled immediately. Slamming the KCR government, he alleged that the ORR, which was the wealth of the Telangana people, was handed over to IRB Infrastructure Developers of Mumbai under the supervision of CM K Chandrashekar Rao, Minister for Municipal Administration K T Rama Rao, Principal Secretary of the Municipal Department Arvind Kumar and the then CS Somesh Kumar, and that KTR had now opened the curtain for another robbery.
Reddy also claimed that as soon as the tender was awarded, IRB sold 49% of its stake to a Singapore company. And after that some shell companies came crawling out of the woodwork, he added.
Reddy said that the Congress was demanding the immediate cancellation of the tenders of the organization. He also said that the commitment of Mazels, which evaluated the value of the ORR, also needed to be questioned.
"The HMDA and HGCL offices will be raided if information related to the tender process is not provided under the Right to Information Act," Reddy warned, and added that he would file a complaint against KTR, Arvind Kumar and BLN Reddy to the CAG, Central Vigilance Commission, relevant investigation agencies, the Prime Minister and the Home Minister for corruption in the tender process.
He vowed that the Congress would stop the fraud taking place under the guise of the ORR tender.
