Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today ordered officials to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the "irregularities" in the Outer Ring Road lease tender contract.
Instructions were given to the Hyderabad Metro Development Authority (HMDA) Joint Commissioner Amrapali Kata to submit the complete details of the contract award immediately.
The lease for toll collection and maintenance of the Outer Ring Road was handed over to Mumbai-based IRB Infra for a period of 30 years by the previous BRS government.
When Reddy was the Opposition leader, he alleged that it was a big scam, and that former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his son and former minister K T Rama Rao had received kickbacks in the finalisation of the tender award to IRB Infra, and asked for a cancellation of the tender.
Now the Chief Minister, Reddy has decided to hand over investigation into the alleged scam to the CBI or another investigative agency of a similar level.
Meanwhile, the State government is also planning to file criminal cases against the relevant officials.
