Former minister and BRS MLA Harish Rao today participated in a meeting of BRS workers of the Medak Assembly constituency.
Speaking on the occasion, Rao said that the BRS had won six of the seven Assembly seats under the Medak Lok Sabha constituency, and that Padma Devender Reddy lost the Medak assembly seat election by a narrow margin.
Rao added that the people of the State were now ruing their decision to vote for the Congress. He alleged that the Congress had cheated the people by promising them various guarantees even though they knew that there was no money for all of those.
He also got into the status of the specific promises made by the Congress. He said that free electricity was not being supplied, and that electric motors and transformers were burning out. He also said that the Rythu Bandhu benefit had not been increased to Rs 15,000, and that even the existing Rs 10,000 was not being paid to the farmers. And there was no word on waiving off crop loans of upto Rs 2 lakh, he said. The pensions of the beneficiaries had also not been increased to Rs 4,000 as promised, he pointed out.
He said that if the promises were not fulfilled within 100 days, the Congress would be taught a lesson by the people, and asked the party to keep its promises and prove its sincerity before the parliamentary election code came into force.
Rao said that the BRS had, quite contrary to the Congress, done things that it had not even promised in its election manifesto. Drinking water to every household, Kalyana Lakshmi and Rythu Bandhu for 11 lakh tribal farmers were not promised by the party, he pointed out.
He said that reneging on its promises was a habit for the Congress, and pointed out that the party had come to power in Karnataka with five guarantees but had not implemented them there either even eight months later. He said that analysts were now saying that the party would not win any seats in the State in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
He also said that the opposition parties were being harassed by the Congress whenever they demanded the implementation of the guarantees promised by it. Claiming that false cases were being filed against BRS leaders in addition to their being threatened, he said that half of the Congress leaders and workers would have been in jails if the BRS government had filed similar cases against them.
He said that the local body elections in the State would come in six months, and that the people would vote overwhelmingly for the BRS to showcase their antipathy for the Congress.
