Congress' Cash Awards To Constables For Ramzan Day Acts
The Congress presented Rs 5,000 to police constables Venkatesh Naik and Pratap Singh of the Kala Pathar police station for their acts at the Mir Alam Idgah.
Leaders Of Opposition in the Telangana Legislative Assembly and Council K Jana Reddy and Mohammed Ali Shabbir respectively today presented Rs 5,000 to each of the two police constables R Venkatesh Naik and V Pratap Singh of the Kala Pathar police station in the Old City.
The constables had displayed exemplary dedication in protecting the paper mattes in and around the Mir Alam Tank Idgah on June 26 during the Eid-ul-Fitr namaz and in enabling thousands of Muslim brethren to offer prayers without any disturbance in an event where over four to five lakh people had gathered as against arrangements made for only one lakh namazis.
The constables had protected the paper mattes by keeping their caps on them while the Muslim faithful were performing namaz, though the former were rule-bound to not remove caps while on duty.
"Hyderabad has always been the gold standard for communal harmony and peaceful co-existence of all communities. And the constables still set new standards in communal amity with their actions," the LOPs said, and described the cash awards to the constables as tokens of appreciation.
The Congress leaders also lauded City Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy and his team for the bullet-proof security and other arrangements made at the Idgah grounds for the Ramzan prayers.
