The Congress MLA from Bheemavaram, P Ramanjaneyulu, joined the Telugu Desam Party on Monday.
Ramanjaneyulu, who was elected from the Bheemavaram seat on a Congress ticket in the 2009 elections, had quit the party after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
He was reportedly persuaded by former minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao to join the TDP. After having consultation with his supporters, he finally took the decision to join the party.
Ramanjaneyulu joined the TDP on Monday in the presence of party chief N Chandrababu Naidu. According to sources, Naidu has reportedly assured him that he would be fielded as the TDP's candidate from Bheemavaram in the next elections. (INN)
