The Congress on Sunday strongly criticized Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for going ahead with the privatization of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) despite the fact that the matter was pending in the High Court.
AICC National Spokesperson Dasoju Sravan said that it was illegal and unconstitutional for the KCR cabinet to approve privatization of 50% of the TSRTC's routes, especially when the court was hearing issues concerning the corporation.
He also slammed the cabinet for taking that decision ignoring the fact that over 48,000 employees were on strike seeking the corporation's merger with the State government, and said that these were mind-games to blackmail the employees.
The cabinet should have discussed the serious remarks made by the High Court against the State government and its officials who furnished incorrect information instead, he said.
"It is highly regrettable that the KCR cabinet did not show any respect for the High Court which is hearing the matter," he said, and accused the Chief Minister of trying to "bulldoze" the institution of the High Court.
