Primary Education Minister S Sailajanath, on Sunday, denied allegations that the Congress was responsible for the
CBI naming Jaganmohan Reddy as the prime accused in its charge-sheet in the case of Jagan's disproportionate assets.
Addressing a press conference in Anantapur, Sailajanath said that the Congress had no role to play in the CBI's investigations into the cases of Jagan's disproportionate assets and other scams.
He condemned the YSR Congress for linking the CBI with the Congress. He said that the CBI has been conducting its investigations independently with no interference from the state or central governments.
Sailajanath said that the state government would accept the court's verdict in Jagan's assets' case.
He slammed the YSR Congress for criticising the CBI probe. He said that the leaders who are now with the YSR Congress party had praised the CBI when it gave Jagan a clean chit in Paritala Ravi's murder case; and that they are now accusing the CBI of acting at the behest of the ruling Congress.
The minister also defended the land allotments in AP on the grounds that it was done to promote employment and development in the state. However, he said that the government could review the allotments in specific cases of misuse. (INN)
