A day before the Justice B N Srikrishna Commission Report is due to be made public, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy called on All India Congress Committee president Sonia Gandhi at 10, Janpath, her residence.
The chief minister is believed to have brought up the issue of resignation threats by senior Congress members from the state if the report recommends Andhra Pradesh remaining integrated.
The importance attached to Wednesday's meeting can be gauged by the fact that Kiran Kumar Reddy was given about an hour of the Congress president's time.
According to sources, the issue of security arrangements to ward off any untoward incidents after the report is disclosed was also discussed.
Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee had already called up Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas and directed him to invite all MPs to be present in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Kiran Kumar Reddy's visit to the national capital is to be part of the crucial meeting scheduled later for the evening, and of the crucial all-party conclave scheduled for Thursday. He had arrived in New Delhi early in the morning.
Sonia Gandhi's political advisor Ahmed Patel was also present when the chief minister called on her earlier in the day.
