Moulana Mohammad Abul Raheem Qureshi said that sending MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi to judicial remand over an 8-year-old case was highly condemnable.
The United Muslim Action Committee on Monday accused Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy of resorting to revenge politics against MIM leaders.
The committee's convener and Assistant General Secretary of All India Muslim Personal Law Board Moulana Mohammad Abul Raheem Qureshi said that sending MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi to judicial remand over an 8-year-old case was highly condemnable. He demanded to know why the police had not executed the non-bailable warrant against the MIM leaders while they were allies of the Congress party. He said that the timing of the arrest of Akbaruddin Owaisi and now sending Asaduddin Owaisi to judicial remand clearly indicates that the government was resorting to "witch hunting".
Moulana Raheem Qureshi said that a delegation of religious leaders would meet Governor E S L Narasimhan on Wednesday seeking his intervention to stop the revenge politics of the state government and the Chief Minister. (INN)
