Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao defended the decision to suspend ten TDP MLAs for the entire budget session of the state legislative assembly.
Speaking in the House, the Chief Minister alleged that the TDP members had come to the House only with the intention of disrupting the proceedings.
He said that the use of unparliamentary words and continuous uproar was intolerable.
He said that the government was not afraid of facing criticism from the opposition parties. However, the TDP MLAs were disturbing the House only to gain publicity.
The Chief Minister said that by showing disrespect to the National Anthem, some MLAs had brought shame to the entire Telangana state.
Reacting to the request of the Leader of the Opposition K Jana Reddy to review the decision on the suspension of the TDP MLAs, he said that there was no urgency to do so. He said that the TDP MLAs should first feel apologetic for their behaviour.
Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao too defended the decision, and said that there were precedents wherein legislators were suspended for longer periods.
Citing instances, he said that in Maharashtra, five Congress MLAs were suspended for two years. (INN)
