Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy targeted the Congress High Command once again, for its decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh to carve out Telangana state.
Speaking to the press after paying tributes to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 29th death anniversary, the Chief Minister said that Indira Gandhi was against the division of Andhra Pradesh.
He reminded that as the then Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi had rejected the demand for division of state during the 1969 and 1972 agitations.
He said that Indira Gandhi was clear on her stand, and was in favour of a united Andhra Pradesh till her death.
Kiran Kumar Reddy said that Indira Gandhi sacrificed her life for the country, and all her decisions were in the interest of the nation. The conditions in the country have turned worse after her death, said the CM.
Although the CM praised Indira Gandhi, his target was clearly the Congress High Command, who made the decision to divide the state.
He indirectly conveyed that the present leadership in the party was going against the policies of Indira Gandhi over the Telangana issue.
On earlier occasions too, the CM hit the headlines by openly criticising the party's leaders for their favourable stand on Telangana. (INN)
