Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao today appealed to the people of the state to keep their surroundings clean in order to remain healthy and fight diseases.
Speaking after participating in some developmental programs at Vemulawada, in Rajanna Sircilla distrcit, he stated, "This town is known as the Kashi of the south. The local Sri Raja Rajeshwara temple attracts many devotees. Thus, local officials must work hard to maintain cleanliness."
The minister directed the officials to raze old and damaged houses, clear concrete waste, debris, and garbage from the streets, take concrete measures to expand the roads, and increase greenery in the area.
"We can fight many diseases by keeping our environment clean and green. Keeping our homes clean too will go a long way in preventing the spread of various vector and water-borne illnesses," he reiterated.
While in the census town, Rao planted some saplings and interacted with locals to gain insight into the issues being faced by them. He then urged the people to follow all the Covid-19 safety guidelines to protect themselves and those around them from the pandemic.
The leader also said, "Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is committed to providing the funds for the development of every town and village. As part of this effort, Rs 20 lakh will be given to the town for the construction of a community hall for the local women. While our government has already offered Rs 5 Crore for the construction of a market here, Rs 1 tap connections will be provided to the people by Dussehra. Further, about 14,000 houses will get nala connections under the Mission Bhagiratha program. I would urge the local officials to work to improve the facilities and infrastructure in Vemulawada as part of the ongoing Pattana Pragathi, Palle Pragathi and Haritha Haram programs."
