The PRP, after consultations with Andhra and Rayalaseema politicians, is pretty much now on the side of United Andhra, in the Telangana debate.
Chiranjeevi’s turnaround on the issue has riled Telangana supporters and politicians. Students of universities of the region have resented the stance and have said that they will not support movies of Ram Charan Tej and Allu Arjun when released in Telangana.
PRP members from Medak, Mahabubnagar are on the verge of resigning. There is talk of jumping parties, and even of a new party being formed for the cause of Telangana.
T-supporters also cite the fact that the PRP had Telangana on its manifesto when it was first formed. As a result, the PRP, which is generally seen as a party with a weak foundation when contrasted with the Congress and the TDP, now seems to be taking a hit.
Meanwhile, the High Court has ordered that all educational institutions in Telangana region be opened.
