Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) President K Chiranjeevi on Sunday stated that his party would fight with the centre for according national project status for Pranahita-Chevella projects in the Telangana region.
Talking to media persons after performing puja at Pushkar Ghat in Argun Gutta on the banks of Pranahita river in Adilabad district, the PRP leader called upon Telangana leaders to focus their attention on getting national project status for Pranahita-Chevella projects to bring more land under irrigation in the region.
He said that the PRP would extend full support and cooperation to the state government for getting national project status for Pranahita-Chevella projects.
He said, "I had the great opportunity of taking a holy dip in the river Pranahita during the Pushkaram which comes once in 12 years."
"I will never forget the emotional attachment showed by Telangana people towards me," he stated, when thousands of his fans thronged to see the film actor at the Pushkar Ghat.
The police faced a tough time trying to control the surging crowds.
Later, Chiranjeevi left for Khammam to enquire about distressed farmers whose crops submerged in the recent rains.
In Khammam, after inspecting the farm fields damaged due to rains, he said that the PRP would demand for rescheduling of loans, and waiving of interest on loans of farmers in the Assembly.
Lashing out the government's failure in providing succor to affected farmers, he said that the farmers were ending their lives due to step-motherly treatment of the government.
