Former Praja Rajyam Party President K Chiranjeevi on Friday called upon his fans and youth members associations to work for strengthening the Congress by taking the government welfare programs and schemes to the doorsteps of the people.
Talking to media persons after having a marathon discussion with the members of his various fans associations and their presidents at his residence, the PRP chief said that they (the fans) were unanimous in welcoming the merger of the party with the Congress.
The members of the fans associations had come from all the 23 districts of the state and they expressed their 'unanimous' acceptance of the actor-turned-politician's decision to merge his party with the Congress.
Chiranjeevi promised the visitors that he would work for getting political posts for them soon after raising the issue with Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President D Srinivas.
Speaking to media persons, the actor's fans stated the uncertainty amongst them had been brought to an end after the decision to merge the party was disclosed publicly. They also promised that they would switch over their loyalties and work for strengthening the Congress.
The meeting was attended by senior party leaders C Ramachandraiah, Chiranjeevi's brother-in-law Allu Aravind, B Veda Vyas and senior Congress leader T Subbi Rami Reddy.
The meeting lasted 3 hours, and about 400 fans from across the state came and extended support to the merger move.
