PRP-Congress Merger In 2 Weeks
PRP President K Chiranjeevi on Wednesday met AP Congress In-Charge Ghulam Nabi Azad and Congress President Sonia Gandhi to discuss the PRP-Congress merger.
Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) President K Chiranjeevi on Wednesday met AP Congress Affairs In-Charge Ghulam Nabi Azad, and Congress President Sonia Gandhi, in New Delhi.
Chiranjeevi was invited by the Congress High Command on Tuesday to discuss the PRP-Congress merger.
Emerging from his meeting with Sonia Gandhi, Chiranjeevi informed the media personnel present that a formal announcement regarding the merger would be made in 2 weeks.
Responding to questions pertaining to the particulars of the meeting, the PRP chief explained that the High Command has not yet decided upon the nature of the merger and the role that he would play in the Congress party.
On a different front, ex PRP member Shobha Rani accused Chiranjeevi of going ahead with the PRP-Congress merger despite numerous members of the party expressing disagreement.
"Chiranjeevi is free to be a part of Congress if he so wishes, but he cannot expect every other member of the PRP to jump ship, too," said Shobha.
Shobha Rani suggested that the members of the PRP who were against the merger may try to carry forward the party by themselves.
