Prominent seer Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamy today responded to the critical comments being made against him by different tribal organisations and political parties in the state.
Speaking to media persons at Tadepally in Andhra Pradesh, the seer claimed that he had never insulted the tribal deities Sammakka and Sarakka, and that he came from a culture that put women on the highest pedestal.
He said that his comments on the Medaram tribal deities were presented out of context, and terming the twisting as laughable. Stating that today was in fact the birthday of goddess Lakshmi, he said that it should be termed as the International Vedic Women's Day. Calling women as channels of Sakthi, said that a family would be happy only if the women in the family were healthy and happy.
Speaking about tribals, the seer also said that his own religious teacher Ramanujacharya had said that it did not matter what community a person was born in, and that anyone who was a jnani (a knowledgeable soul) was worthy of the highest respect. He added that the lineage that he came from had built a colony called Srimannarayana Harijana Colony in East Godavari district in the year 1938, and that he had also participated in the building of a school for the tribals of Adilabad in 2004.
