Chilkur Priest To Re-enact 2,700-Year-Old Incident
The Chilkur Balaji temple's C S Rangarajan will carry a devout Scheduled Caste person on his shoulders into the Lord Ranganatha Temple, Jiyaguda, on April 16.

Archaka of the Chilkur Balaji temple C S Rangarajan will carry a devout Scheduled Caste (SC) person on his shoulders into the Lord Ranganatha Temple, Jiyaguda, from outside the temple in a procession at 4 pm on April 16.
This was announced at a press conference today by C S Rangarajan, who is also the Convenor of the Temples Protection Movement, and Srungaram Tiruvengalacharyulu, President of the Sri Vaishnava Seva Sangam, accompanied by others.
Amid the chanting of the names of the divine, divine music and Annamayya's famous song "Brahmamokkatey Parabrahmamokkatey" meaning that the Lord is the same for everyone, this utsavam will be performed to coincide with the 1,000th year celebrations of Bhagavad Ramanuja, the acharya who propagated equality of all before God and surrender to Him.
This ritual is aimed at getting people to help in stopping ill-treatment of persons belonging to the SC/ST communities. It is a re-enactment of a 2,700-year-old incident, and is being done to re-establish the greatness of Sanatana Dharma and to propagate equality before the Lord of all sections of people.
The utsavam is being supported by the Temples Protection Movement, Hindu Dharmacharya Pratisthan, Hindu Devalaya Pratisthana Peetham, Sri Vaishnava Seva Sangam, Jiyargudem, Ranganatha Swamy Devalayam, Dharma Jagaran Samithi, Samajika Samaraswatha Vedika, Telangana Archaka Samakhya, Andhra Pradesh Archaka Samakhya and many other like-minded organisations.
