Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP national president Chandrababu Naidu today said that the party had a lot of time to talk about alliances with like-minded political parties for the next Assembly elections in AP and Telangana.
Talking to mediapersons along with Jana Sena Party (JSP) chief Pawan Kalyan at his (Naidu's) residence after the two leaders had a two-hour private meeting, Naidu said that the two leaders had discussed the controversial GO No 1 issued by the AP government prohibiting rallies, and that they would continue to fight against the State government until the GO was withdrawn.
Commenting on political alliances, he said that the party would take up the issue before the elections. He added however that there was a need for the opposition political parties to join hands in order to protect democracy in AP. He said that the TDP would set up a "Democracy Protection Platform" and fight along with the other political parties and civil society organisations against the "anti-people policies" of the AP government. He also said that AP was witnessing dreadful conditions of the kind that existed during the Emergency, and that the TDP would take the developments in the State to the notice of the union government if required.
Targeting CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, Naidu termed the former a psycho, and said that he (Naidu) had faced a lot of insults in the State due to the attitude of Jagan.
