Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said that his party would move a No Confidence Motion against the Kiran Kumar Reddy government on the first day of the winter session of the Legislative Assembly, starting on Thursday.
Talking to media persons after a marathon meeting of the Telugu Desam Legislature Party at the NTR Trust Bhavan, Naidu said the TDP would move the motion against the government for its failure to support of distressed farmers in the drought-hit areas.
He said that if the Speaker allowed a discussion on the No Confidence Motion, then the TDP would support debates on other issues proposed by the government.
If the discussion is not allowed, however, then the TDP MLAs would not allow a discussion on any other issue, he warned.
Naidu said that the TDP move to introduce a No Confidence Motion in the last session was foiled due to various reasons.
However, this time he said the party was firm on introducing the motion.
The TDP MLAs would move the motion on Thursday after a padayatra from NTR Ghat to the Legislative Assembly.
Naidu said that during his padayatra in 12 drought-hit districts, he witnessed the suffering of farmers and tenant farmers due to crop loss, power cuts, deficient rain and debt traps.
"It clearly exposes inability of the Chief Minister and his cabinet ministers, who failed to even visit the affected areas and provide required help to the farmers," he said.
Regarding the Telangana issue, the TDP chief said that the Congress party was responsible for the existing chaos and uncertainty, and therefore, the Congress should resolve the matter.
He said that the TDP has already clarified its stand on the Telangana issue. (INN)
