Condemning what he called police high-handedness while forcibly arresting and shifting Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu from the New MLA Quarters at Adarsh Nagar to the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences on Monday morning, Communist Party of India state general secretary K Narayana said that the onus was on the state government now to show its commitment to farmers' welfare.
Talking to media persons after enquiring about the health of Naidu from NIMS doctors, the Left party leader said the government should have shown its commitment in solving farmers' issues by revising the compensation package announced earlier instead of shifting the former chief minister to hospital.
Terming the police's action on Naidu as 'undemocratic', Narayana demanded disciplinary action on the errant policemen, and sought an apology from them. He added that the police should also apologise to the TDP workers who were injured in the lathi-charge during the 7-hour long standoff at Adarsh Nagar during the arrest on Monday morning.
