Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday stated that
the No Confidence Motion against Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy was a slap on face the government for failing to address farmers' problems.
Commencing the 7th phase of the Rythu Porubata from Saleguda to Umri village in Adilabad district, Chandrababu Naidu said that the TDP had moved the no trust motion as the government had failed to respond to farmers' woes.
He said that the government has totally failed to take relief measures in drought-affected areas despite distressed farmers ending their lives unable to clear their debts.
"Except for announcing 865 mandals as drought affected, the government has not taken any steps and relief measures," he stated.
He reiterated that his party would continue its fight for farmers until they get due justice and remunerative prices for their produce.
He also noted that the government is yet to finish pending projects that were launched during the TDP's regime.
Earlier, some pro-Telangana activists tried to obstruct Naidu's Porubata at Enda Thanda. However, the attempt was foiled by the police.
Some rural women at Saleguda gave Naidu a rousing reception with the traditional
harathi.
In Narsapur of Indervalli mandal, Naidu called on the family of a farmer who had committed suicide due to the failure of his cotton crop this season.
Adilabad MP Ramesh Rathod and TDP district unit president Gone Hanumantha Rao also took part in the Rythu Porubata. (INN)
