Describing the "Chalo Dharna Chowk" program as a big success, the organizers alleged that the state government tried to provoke the local LIC Colony people and Walkers Association members to stage dharnas against the movement, but the latter didn't come.
In a statement issued by the Save Dharna Chowk Committee, its leaders alleged that it was the police in civil dress who acted as LIC Colony residents and Walkers Association members.
They alleged that the state government gave permission to the activists only at midnight, and that Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy's son-in-law and Musheerabad TRS leader Muta Gopal erected shamiyanas at midnight and arranged thousands of chairs to obstruct the program.
The organizers also said that the police who arrived in mufti to protest against the movement created a scene by obstructing the Save Dharna Chowk activists, which led to tension. The police then resorted to a lathi-charge, leading to injuries to the Save Dharna Chowk activists. Some of them received serious head injuries, and the hands and legs of some other activists were broken.
The organizers claimed that the Left parties, TJAC, Congress, Telugu Desam Party, BJP, Jana Sena, government employees, farmers, labourers and workers from the unorganised sector participated in the program and made it a big success despite the injuries.
