Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy today said that the BJP-led Centre was supporting Telangana's fight against the Covid-19 pandemic in every possible way.
"The Centre is extending its support to the Telangana government to help it combat the ongoing second wave. We have already allotted 57 lakh vaccines to the state and have given Andhra Pradesh 75 lakh doses as well. Further, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently in talks with big pharma companies to explore the possibility of pushing up vaccine production in India. Our government's objective is to ensure that all the citizens of the nation can get immunised as soon as possible," Reddy said at a virtual press meet.
"Over 16 pharma companies are working to develop indigenous vaccines. We hope that by December, two more vaccines, apart from Covaxin and Covishield, will be ready for use. Alongside these efforts,
Russia's Sputnik V is also being imported so that the vaccination process can be expedited," he added.
The minister also appealed to the public to do its bit to help contain the spread of the pandemic in the country, and added, "It will only be possible for the Centre and the state governments to contend with the pandemic if the people cooperate with all the prescribed Covid-19 practices and norms."
