Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy today accused the Modi government of misusing the investigative agencies to suppress the voices of the Opposition parties, and asked it to stop indulging in such undemocratic practices.
Speaking at a press conference, Reddy alleged that the union government was harassing opposition leaders using the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau Investigation (CBI) and Income Tax department, which had resultantly lost their credibility.
He also accused the union government of misusing the Governor system in the country to try to grab the powers of the State governments.
"Also, it has been nine years since the formation of Telangana State, but the union government is yet to resolve the water-sharing issues in the Krishna and Godavari rivers between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Not even a single promise under the AP Reorganisation Act has been fulfilled during the last nine years," Reddy added.
Condemning the disqualification of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from the Lok Sabha in connection with a defamation case, Reddy said that it was grossly unfair to altogether disqualify the leader based on the remarks in question there.
