A native of Manikonda, Gampa Sidda Lakshmi, on Wednesday approached the Telangana High Court urging it to pass orders imposing a ban on Holi celebrations in the state in the wake of the cases and threat of coronavirus.
In her petition, Lakshmi submitted to the High Court that the Holi celebrations that would be held on March 9 and 10 should be banned in view of the threat to public health that they posed, and that directions to that effect would help people from becoming the victims of the deadly virus.
Incidentally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to keep himself away from Holi celebrations due to the coronavirus scare.
