Senior IPS officer R S Praveen Kumar, who was the Secretary of the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society and the Telangana Tribal Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society, has been in the news ever since he resigned from his post on July 19.
Today again he hit the headlines when a Karimnagar judge directed the police to file a case against him.
According to reports, a case was filed against the retired IPS officer for making "objectionable remarks" against some Hindu gods at a recent program.
On March 16, one Bethi Mahender Reddy filed a petition against the officer for "hurting the sentiments" of the Hindu community. Following this, a court ordered the police to file a case against Kumar.
The senior official's sudden resignation has given rise to many speculations about his possible entry into politics, especially as the resignation has come ahead of the upcoming Huzurbad by-election.
However, yesterday, Kumar had clarified that he
did not have any interest in entering politics at this juncture of his life. While he quickly added that there was nothing wrong in doing so, he also noted that it would be wrong to think that "the entire existing socio-economic system" could be changed through only politics.
