Goshamahal MLA Raja Singh today alleged that the Telangana government was acting against the beliefs of the Hindus of the State.
Speaking to the media, he said that the BRS government, which had come to power in 2014, was committing atrocities against the Hindus.
Singh spoke in the specific context of the Ganesh idol immersion in the Hussain Sagar. He said that after Maharashtra, the Ganesh festival was celebrated in the grandest manner in Telangana, and that Ganesh immersion was being done in the Hussain Sagar for the past many years. However, some people had deliberately filed a petition in the court that the Hussain Sagar would be polluted due to the Ganesh immersion, and that the High Court had eventually ruled that the Ganesh idols made of PoP should not be immersed in the lake.
He said that for the past few years sewage water had been accumulating in the Hussain Sagar, and was a huge reason for polluting the lake. The government's counsel could not argue this properly in the court, resulting in the ruling, Singh claimed.
He said that that CM K Chandrashekar Rao should answer for the pollution in the lake, especially given that KCR had promised to convert Hussain Sagar into a drinking water lake in the State Assembly. He said that the failure of the State government to keep the lake clean and then to argue in court that it wasn't the immersion of PoP idols but the year-long sewage water accumulation that was behind the pollution, was behind the High Court's decision to give such a verdict at a time when all the necessary arrangements were being made for the Ganesh idol immersion in the lake.
Asserting that immersion would take place in the Hussain Sagar lake despite the court's ruling, Singh warned that the State government would be held responsible if any untoward incidents happened during the immersion.
