Several philanthropists came forward to make donations in order to provide assistance to under-privileged cancer patients who are undergoing treatment in cancer hospitals.
These donations, worth Rs. 22 lakhs, are meant for creating new facilities, and to provide treatment assistance to poor cancer patients in Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute. Amongst these donations, is one made by Dr. P S Raju, a Begumpet resident, towards a corpus fund created to provide treatment assistance to under-privileged patients.
Another donation of Rs. 10 lakhs was made towards constructing two rooms in the hospital premises for the benefit of patients. This generous amount was donated by Chunduru Venkateswarulu, a resident of Masab Tank, in the memory of his parents - Chunduru Tulasamma and Chunduru Basavaiah.
Rs. 5 lakhs were donated by MROPS India's management and employees, who were led by the managing director, M Ramakrishna.
All the three donations were handed over to BIACH & RI chairman Nandamuri Balakrishna.
Balakrishna has appreciated the magnanimous gesture of the philanthropists. Explaining the need to create additional facilities in the hospital to serve the increasing number of patients day by day, he urged others to come forward in support of cancer care.
