The election campaign for 17 Lok Sabha constituencies in Telangana ended today.
Speaking at a press conference, Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj said that 90,000 employees were participating in the election duties, and that 160 central forces and 60,000 police personal were on duty.
"There are 35,809 polling stations in Telangana. More than 87,000 ballot units are being used in the elections. Instructions have been given to keep posters in the polling station premises so that the voters do not get confused," he said.
Section 144 would be imposed across Telangana, with a holiday declared with pay on May 13 for both government and private organisations in the State, he added.
Raj also said that non-locals should not be in the constituencies after 5 PM from Saturday, and warned that action would be taken against those who did not follow the rules.
"No symbols of any political parties should be broadcast on TV channels. Bulk SMSs related to elections are banned, and exit polls are banned till June 1," the CEO added.
Raj also informed the media that so far Rs 320 crores of cash, liquor and drugs had been seized.
