Senior IPS officer C V Anand today once again took charge as the Police Commissioner of Hyderabad.
Many people presented flower bouquets and congratulated him on the occasion.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, he said, "I am happy to take charge as Hyderabad CP for the second time. I am thanking CM Revanth Reddy for giving me this opportunity. At present, there are the Ganesh Chaturthi and Milad-un-nabi festivals to deal with. We will ensure that the festivals are held in a peaceful atmosphere."
He recalled that last year, too, the two festivals had come at the same time. "We held them in a peaceful manner then too," he said.
He said that the action plan to handle the crowds and processions was ready in all respects, and that he would hold a review meeting with the officials concerned soon over the festival arrangements.
He added that friendly policing would continue to be a part of policing, but that some people were misinterpreting it. "Criminals will be cracked down across the city. And the State government is serious about the drug menace and will work towards eradicating drugs and ganja. I will also take stock of the phone tapping case," Anand said.
Anand had served as Hyderabad Commissioner of Police previously too - from December 24 2021 to October 12 2023. In 2017, he received the President's Police Medal as well as the Innovative Leadership Award.
