BRS working president K T Rama Rao today said that some leaders had left the party after the Congress came to power, and that some big leaders had left in Mudhol, Nirmal and Kagaznagar.
Calling such leaders opportunistic, he said, "When we came to power, they came to us. As soon as the power was gone, they went back. However, as long as we have our activists, we do not need these leaders - the Congress is like a poisonous snake that will be beaten to death by the ants called the BRS activists, who are wearing the pink flag," he said.
KTR was participating in a wide-ranging meeting of the party organized in the Adilabad Lok Sabha constituency. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the BRS would win in all the Lok Sabha constituencies if it fought well. And referring specifically about Adilabad, he said that there would be a three-way contest in the constituency.
"People are on fire against the BJP and the Congress. Let's take the promises made on Monday to the people, and also publicise what we did when in government. We have given 10% reservation to the Lambada and Adivasi brothers. We have given pattas for podu lands. Sevalal Jayanti was officially celebrated. KCR has fulfilled the Jal Jangal Zameen slogan of tribal leader Komaram Bheem. Water was given to every house. Irrigation water was provided to every acre. Jangal was rescued through Haritha Haram. KCR has thus taken forward the aspirations of Komaram Bheem," he said.
KTR alleged that the governments of the day did not recognise Komaram Bheem. "We erected a memorial for Komaram Bheem at Joden Ghat, and officially celebrated his jayanthi and death anniversary to pay our true tributes," he said. He also pointed out that a new district of Asifabad had been created and named after Komaram Bheem.
He also claimed that it was the Congress government that had opened fire in Indravelli at that time, and added that CM Revanth Reddy came to the same place and deceived the tribals shamelessly, without being honest in his words and without apologising to the martyrs.
"All these should be explained in the villages. The people's illusions about the Congress government have been dispelled. They are looking to burn it on May 13. The people are ready to make the BRS win. Power is not permanent. Power is only lost occasionally. There has been no let up in the fighting spirit of the party activists. In every one of the villages, there are workers who will give their all for the victory of the party," he said.
