BRS MLAs Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and Kadiyam Srihari today condemned the remarks made by Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan at the Republic Day celebrations in Hyderabad.
Speaking at a press conference at the BRS office in Jangaon district, they said, "It is very sad that the Governor forgets that she is a Governor and uses the Republic Day celebration as a political platform. The Governor seems to have spoken as a BJP representative, and we condemn it on behalf of the BRS. We demand that her comments be withdrawn. This Governor appears to be completely unaware of the Constitution, and we request the union government not to appoint Governors who do not have basic common sense."
They demanded that the entire Governor system be abolished rather than having such Governors.
Rajeshwar Reddy said that it was deplorable for the Governor to speak like a BJP leader. He claimed that the Governor had trampled many bills of the BRS government, and demanded that she to resign and contest on behalf of the BJP.
Pointing out that it had been almost 50 days since the Congress government came to power, he said that 420 promises had been made on the eve of the elections but only two were implemented so far by it. "The Congress came to power by making unfulfillable promises, and it is being proved now," he said.
He also said that ministers who did not understand the Kaleswaram project at all were saying that the corruption in it should be exposed immediately. "The people of the State know how many cases and what kind of cases are there against CM Revanth Reddy, who has been criticizing us by calling us as Charles, Billa and Ranga. The Congress leaders are just trying to scare the BRS, but there is no way that we will be afraid of the State government. We will prove the strength of the BRS in the coming Lok Sabha elections," he said.
