The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), which is aspiring to establish a national presence in national politics, opened its party office in Guntur town of Andhra Pradesh today.
BRS Andhra Pradesh president Thota Chandrasekhar inaugurated the five-storey party office building next to the A S Function Hall in the Autonagar area on the Mangalagiri Road of Guntur district.
Speaking on the occasion, Chandrasekhar said that the BRS was the only party that could defeat the BJP in the upcoming elections.
He said that while Telangana had been progressing in all fronts under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Andhra Pradesh was lagging behind in development and investments.
Chandrasekhar criticised both Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president Chandrababu Naidu and Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy for failing to exert pressure on the union government, and said that neither of the leaders had the courage to question Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the special status promised to the State under the AP Reorganisation Act.
"The union government, instead of fulfilling its promises to Andhra Pradesh, is trying to privatise the Vizag Steel Plant. Unfortunately, both the ruling and opposition parties are maintaining silence over the issue and are not taking any measures to protect the plant," he claimed.
Chandrasekhar called upon the people of Andhra Pradesh to support the BRS in the upcoming elections, and said that the BRS was the only party that could provide a better future for the State.
