The BRS today approached the Telangana High Court after the police denied permission for its silver jubilee meeting in Elkathurthi, Warangal district.
The court took up the matter, and adjourned the hearing to April 17.
In their petition, BRS leaders requested the court to direct the police to grant permission for the meeting. They said that the event was scheduled for April 27, from 10 am to 10 pm, as part of the party's silver jubilee celebrations, to commemorate the milestone.
The party named the Principal Secretary of the Home Department, the Warangal Commissioner of Police and the Kazipet ACP as respondents in the case.
Following this, the court issued notices to the respondents.
The advocate representing the Home Department sought time to file a counter, and requested a deadline of April 21.
However, the court said that adequate time was required to make necessary arrangements for the event, and directed the State's counsel to file the counter by April 17.
