BRS working president K T Rama Rao today filed two petitions in the Telangana High Court seeking the quashing of two cases registered against him at the Banjara Hills and Musheerabad police stations.
The first case, lodged at the Banjara Hills police station, stems from a complaint by a Congress worker alleging that KTR insulted Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
The complaint accuses KTR of claiming that the Chief Minister had collected Rs 2,500 crore from builders and contractors and transferred the funds to Delhi. The complainant asserts that these remarks damaged the Chief Minister's reputation and disturbed public peace.
The second case, registered at the Musheerabad police station, involves allegations that KTR and BRS MLA Mutha Gopal conducted a roadshow without proper permission during an election campaign, which included the bursting of firecrackers.
In his petitions, KTR contends that the cases are baseless and lack substantive evidence, arguing that his comments did not intend to malign the Chief Minister or disrupt public order. He maintains that the police registered the cases without sufficient grounds.
The Telangana High Court has scheduled the next hearing for these petitions for March 18, 2025.
