TTD Executive Officer I Y R Krishna Rao said that a coronary unit will be set up at Ashwini hospital on Tirumala on a 24x7 basis, for emergency use of aged devotees during the Brahmotsavam.
Briefing media persons about the preparations and arrangements made for the twin Brahmotsavams being conducted during September and October this year, Rao said the coronary unit provided with collaboration of the Apollo Hospitals will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister K Rosaiah during his visit to Tirumala on September 15 for the Garudotsavam.
The executive officer said that facilities for devotees wanting to climb the hill shrine by the walkers' path will be kept open round the clock during the Brahmotsavam period.
Rao said the TTD had decided tie up with the AP Tourism department henceforth, to run integrated information services besides multi-lingual information services in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, English and Hindi.
He said it has been decided to rope in efficient personnel of the AP Tourism department in the manning of the information centres instead of hiring retired employees.
The Executive Officer said the Brahmotsavam is like a special festival wherein devotees are exposed to the natural environs, sanctity and beauty of Tirumala.
Special attention is being given to the parking of vehicles, facilities for devotees at the Mada streets, free meals at the Annadanam complex, and medical facilities including first aid, ambulances and swine flu testa. Rao said there is also a buffer stock of 5 lakh laddus, and that there was no need for devotees to be anguished over the availability of laddus.
The EO also appealed to devotees to help in the successful conduction of vahanam processions during the Brahmotsavam.
"I appeal to people to not throw coins, salt and pepper on the deities and cause injuries to vahanam bearers and priests," he said.
The Executive officer also appealed to devotees to avoid bringing plastic bottles and plastic bags to Tirumala.
"Also, do not leave plastic bag on Tirumala," he said, adding that elaborate arrangements were made to keep the place clean and to maintain sanitation in and around Tirumala.
