In a move that could have serious economic implications on the general public, the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee on Friday called upon Telangana people to boycott products from the Seemandhra region.
Talking to reporters, TPJAC chairman Prof. M Kodandaram asked the people to boycott Seemandhra products, as a part of general strike going on in the region. He also asked people not to pay toll tax, water and current bills, in order to intensify the people's general strike.
Prof. Kodandaram also proposed the idea of causing losses to the state's exchequer. He asked people from Telangana to stop drinking liquor, just like Muslims, till Telangana is formed.
He said that the boycott would hit the state's economy and that the Centre would be forced to announce Telangana.
The JAC chairman said that the formation of Telangana was being obstructed by Centre, Seemandra leaders and those who did not resign for Telangana statehood.
Kodandaram said that the people in the state were not ready to believe TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu's stance on corruption that he has adopted now. Asking Naidu to make his stand on Telangana clear, he advised him to bear the national flag on his shoulder and fight for separate statehood like he is against corruption.
The JAC chief asked why Telangana Congress leaders were afraid of submitting their resignations afresh for a Telangana state.
Earlier, Kodandaram took part in the round-table conference organized by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi's Labour Wing at Telangana Bhavan.
TRS politburo member Nayani Narsimha Reddy also addressed the media, slamming those who failed to resign for the cause of separate Telangana. (INN)
