PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana's statement that nine MLAs were expelled from the party has stirred a hornet's nest in the state.
The government falls short of a mere majority by a whisker, whether or not the opposition wants to cash in on the situation or not. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi could be the likely ally this time around, even if the Government has to prove its majority on the floor of the house.
The issue of a Congress-TRS merger has been in the air for some time now. Only, some issues are coming in way of cinching the deal, sources say.
However, Congress minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy, N Raghuveera Reddy, Kasu Krishna Reddy and Sunitha Lakshma Reddy expressed confidence that the Government will continue to its full tenure. They said that the PCC President must have made the statement after considering all issues, and that there is no threat to the government.
Congress has a strength of 155 in the House of which nine members have been expelled. The magic figure is 148 for a mere majority. (INN)
