The historic Golconda Fort and its surroundings on Sunday turned into a sea of devotees on account of the Bonalu festival.
Women attired in their best carried "Bonams" on their heads and presented them to the presiding deity goddess Mahakali, who was in the form of Renuka Yellamma Thalli on the occasion.
Apart from the local population, thousands of devotees from other parts of Greater Hyderabad and the surrounding districts started pouring onto the Fort premises since the early hours.
Many devotees, who had realized their dreams with the blessings of the goddess, presented "Thottelas" (traditional bamboo made cradles) to the Ammavaru (mother) with utmost devotion.
In view of the festival, the city police had made elaborate arrangements to prevent any hardships to the devotees.
