Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar today said that the BJP would turn the Old City-based Bhagyalakshmi temple into a golden temple if it came to power in the State.
He made these remarks while speaking to mediapersons after performing prayers at the temple.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that he was happy to visit the Bhagyalakshmi temple on the occasion of Bonalu. He said that it was however strange that the State government, which had allocated Rs 33 crore for Ramzan celebrations in its budget, allocated merely Rs 5 lakh for the Bonalu celebrations. He promised that if the BJP came to power in the State, it would hold Bonalu celebrations in every street of the State.
Targeting MIM leaders, he said that they were like lizards on a wall, and would sail with any party that came into power in Telangana. "The MIM leaders supported the BRS in the past and are now supporting the Congress. They do this to run their businesses," he said.
Referring to the comments of CM Revanth Reddy that he would ensure the victory of MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi if the latter contested from his Kodangal Assembly constituency, Sanjay said that Kodangal was not the fiefdom of any leader, and that the BJP would ensure that Owaisi would lose his deposit if he contested from Kodangal.
Later, Sanjay offered prayers at different temples of the Old City, and participated in Gowlipura in PM Narendra Modi's Mann Ki Baat program.
