Elaborate security arrangements are being made for the Bonalu procession to be held in the Old City on Monday.
Talking to reporters after reviewing the arrangements, City Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma said that it was almost after 14 years that Bonalu and Ramzan are coinciding.
He appreciated people for celebrating both the festivals with complete peace and harmony, and said that a cordial atmosphere of this kind must continue in the city forever.
However, the Commissioner said that a few people who might disturb the atmosphere have been taken into preventive custody.
He said that elaborate arrangements have been made for the peaceful conduct of the Bonalu procession in the Old City, which coincides with the Shab-e-Qadar, the last of the three holy nights for Muslims.
Police pickets have been posted at all sensitive locations, and patrolling has been intensified in all areas, he said. (INN)
