Bonalu Celebrated In Grand Manner In Lal Darwaza Temple

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka today presented silk clothes to the presiding deity in the Lal Darwaza Sri Simhavahini Ammavari temple on behalf the State government on the occasion of Bonalu.
Devotees thronged the temple to pray Her right from the morning, and the roads around the temple were packed. The temple is old (it is celebrating its 116th anniversary this year) and quite popular, and devotees from Telangana and other States too come and offer saplings to the goddess during the festival.
The temple is decked up for the occasion and bustling with activity. On the first day, the Ammavari Santhi Kalyanam was performed. The second day will see the Ghatam procession with Rangam Bhavishyavani and a Potharaju play.
Five queue lines have been arranged at the temple, with two separate queue lines for women devotees carrying bonams on their heads.
On behalf of the State government, Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka presented silk clothes to the presiding deity of the temple. Hyderabad in-charge minister Ponnam Prabhakar was also present on the occasion.
The police have made all the necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the festivities. There were over 500 police personnel, and CCTV camera surveillance has been set up around the temple.
Special arrangements have been made for the Bonalu festival at the 23 prominent temples in the Old City.
